Geotechnical Design Services
ACS’s geotechnical design services generally include soil test borings, in situ testing, laboratory testing, and engineering design and analysis. The first phase of every successful civil engineering project begins with a high quality subsurface investigation program of the site. During the field exploration phase of the project, we perform the services of test boring in the field during the drilling work. ACS Services LLC has an experienced geotechnical engineering staff that is able to modify the drilling program as necessary based on actual conditions that arise in the field. ACS is able to characterize the soil and rock conditions by way of well placed boreholes. The drilling program allows ACS to evaluate the conditions of the material in situ and obtain soil and rock samples for further testing. ACS works on retail, commercial, industrial, school district, and government projects. We perform soil and geological studies, settlement assessments, liquefaction analysis, slope stability and slope stabilization analysis, building and slope distress investigations, and retaining wall designs. Side view diagram of ACS Engineering Group drilling rig ACS Services LLC has its own drilling rig for these subsurface investigations. The rig is a CME 45 rig mounted on a 4 wheel drive Ford F450 for easy site access. The drill rig features:

     • Hydraulic slide base - in and out, side to side
     • Hollow stem 7 ½” auger
     • 1800 Lb hoist
     • 3200 lb Hoist
     • Cat Head
     • 3-36 inch leveling jacks

The second phase pertains to laboratory testing. ACS Services LLC performs a series of tests that classify the soil and calculate the shear strength and compressibility parameters of the material. During this analysis and reporting phase, we gather the information from the field and laboratory work and develop geotechnical recommendations.

The third phase of the geotechnical process is the engineering and design recommendation. ACS’s recommendations pertain to all aspects of earthwork operations, shallow or deep foundation design, retaining wall design, pavement design, earth dam design and slope stability design. ACS is often able to identify potential construction pitfalls about which an owner or contractor needs to be aware of prior to beginning construction. Specific information and design recommendations may contain:

     • Recommendations for the type of foundation, excavation and grading, soil stability, and site preparation
     • Storm water management and remediation
     • Construction dewatering and drainage systems
     • Slope stability analysis and lateral earth pressure determinations
     • Retaining walls
     • Excavation, bracing and undercutting design
     • Site grading recommendations
     • Pavement design
